I hate pigeons with a vengeance or I used to until I kind of adopted a family a few weeks ago.
A pigeon kept flying past my window and making me jump. She (it turns out to be female) then landed on a branch right next to my van window which is no more than 2 meters away and would occasionally start cooing.
Now I hate this cooing noise and it really grates on me so I would bang on my window and off she would go again. She was so persistant I decided to go out and chop this branch down to stop her landing there. It was then that I saw this.
There were two baby pigeons. I decided to stop banging on the window and keep an eye on these little fellas as they developed.
Everytime I went past them I stopped and had a quick chat and very quickly they got used to me and ignored me (most sensible)
A couple of days later they disappeared and a pile of feathers appeared at the bottom of the wall and I thought a cat had got them. Later that evening however they were back for the last visit to the nest.
They have now gone but are occasionally back at the tree to the rear of the van. I am suprised I can recognise them, but they recognise me also and they are the only two pigeons that don’t immediately fly away when I open the back doors of the van.
